4CC – 4 CORNERS OF CULTURES is a co-production training program for short film scripts, including project development, production and promotion, organized by ARTVIVA with the support of the Romanian National Center of Cinematography, in partnership with ADA – ACADEMY OF DOCUMENTARY ARTS, Poland.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants can download the application form on this site or send an email to info@artviva.ro. Please ensure that all sections are completed. All documents, including the project proposals themselves, must be in English and should be sent via email to info@artviva.ro.

The selected projects will be announced on 12st of September 2014.

In addition to the application form (completed and signed), applicants must send also the following materials in English, as electronic files, at the address: info@artviva.ro

  • A story synopsis (no more than 2 pages)
  • A draft of the screenplay, NO longer than 20 pages, or

an extensive outline (about 10 pages)

  • A sample of dialogue scenes
  • Curriculum vitae for each of the team members attending the workshop
  • Personal letter of intent for each of the team members attending the workshop
  • If available, applicants should also submit a track record of previous works

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

Projects will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Quality and originality of the proposal
  • Authentic cultural identity
  • Highlight of national values
  • International co-production potential
  • Production potential and commercial viability
  • Track record of the applicants, and ability to collaborate effectively

 

THE SCHEDULE

4CC includes residential workshops and one online session. 4CC will start with a workshop held in Bucharest from 25th to 28th of October 2014 with follow-up tuition available online. The program will conclude with a pitching session when the best developed projects will be selected to enter into production and will travel for the next years in the festival circuit through the international partners of the 4CC program.

 

METHODOLOGY

The course will bring together 12 selected fiction projects in teams of writer/director and producer.

The training will be held in English with a team of established international professionals.
The team of trainers: David Pope (Script Tutor), Catherine Linstrum (Script Tutor), Dorota Roszkowska (Academy of Documentary Arts, Production), Patrice Vivancos (Creative Europe, Funding Possibilities), Ruxandra Cernat (Pitching), George Christopoulos (Music and Sound), Irina Margareta Nistor (Festivals), Luc Ntonga (Marketing and Sales). The workshop sessions will involve individual tutorials, group tutorials, and plenary sessions, and are designed to be as collaborative as possible. The goal for each project will be to improve the creative content and nurture the international potential, so that a script can be developed which has the best possible chances of success in the marketplace.

During the event, the 12 selected teams will have the opportunity to meet and discuss their projects with award-winning Romanian and Polish filmmakers.

 

AWARDS

At the end of the program, the four projects displaying the greatest potential will go on into production.

 

PARTICIPATION FEE

The course fee is 110 euro/person for the selected projects. There is no application fee.

 

FOREIGN PARTICIPANTS

4CC will offer free accommodation for foreign participants at each of the two residential workshops. Travel expenses must be covered individually.
