The first edition of the international film festival – WINGS

Between the 21st to the 26th of March 2017, at Cinemateca Eforie (Jean Georgescu Hall), the first edition of the international film festival – WINGS will take place, organized by the Russian Center for Culture and Science in Romania. The main participants are the embassies of the CIS countries, accredited in Romania: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia. The guest of honour of the festival is Romania.

Each country is presenting a series of films: fiction, documentary and animation, with Romanian or English subtitles. The films were specially chosen to offer a large variety of genres, from comedy to thriller, from mystic to animations. Romania is present with two documentaries about the national minorities and an artistic documentary based on true events, the meeting between Ceausescu and Tito.

The festival will open with the Russian-Armenian coproduction ‘The Earthquake”, made in 2016, about the 1988 earthquake in Armenia. Back then, all the nations from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics stepped in to help the Armenians along with a huge numbers of foreign friends.

“The art unites the world” – is the motto of the Wings Film Festival.
